Tao Te Ching
gb2
our fathers are men
just that
just men
once boys
some grown
some still boys
perhaps they did not know acknowledge or accept
that once they turned that age
the one the world imposes
that no one would take care of them
that they would be required
to take care of us
but how do you expect
a boy who never grew
to be a man
when no one showed him
and he was not brave enough
to become one himself
our fathers are the leaders
some lost
some strong
but just that
lost and leading us away
or strong and leading us back home
perhaps they never knew
that we followed right behind
even when we followed them
to hell
but how do you expect
a man who lost his way
or one too strong to speak
to be a guide
to be a champion
to provide
what has never been provided him
our fathers are just visions
or the tangible representatives
of life that happens round us
and to us
and through us
with only mortality
or perceived triviality
or supposed wisdom
but how can we expect
that their lives would show us secrets
to live without pain
that pain sometimes won't heal
that healing leaves a scar
perhaps we should forgive them
for being only men
some boys
some lost
some tangible representatives
some strong
and just call him
